The Old Firehouse Shelter provides homeless men
in Birmingham a nurturing and caring environment while empowering each
individual to reach
his full potential. Both male and female volunteers are needed. Volunteers
perform a variety of tasks, from sorting clothing and office work
to preparing and serving meals, or staying overnight in the Shelter.
A staff member directs all activities. Volunteers need no special
skills, only a willingness to help. For more information contact
Joe Diliberto at 942-6978.

by providing an evening meal or spending the night during one of
the Cathedral's six weeks of duty each year. For more information

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) is a nine-month program
of catechesis for adults who are interested in the Catholic Faith and
want to know more about our practices and beliefs. R.C.I.A. offers
Catholics the opportunity to share their faith with others as sponsors
of R.C.I.A. candidates. Sponsors walk the faith journey with their
candidates, offering friendship and support. Parishioners can also
serve in a variety of other ways to help make the program inviting
and successful. For more information call the Cathedral office.
